DMT
Just Say Know!
Name(s): DIMITRI, THE SPIRIT MOLECULE, CHANGA, FANTASIA, GOD CRYSTAL, SPICE, DIMMERS, THE SACRAMENT
Chemical Compound:
N, N-Dimethyltryptamine
DMT is one of the most powerful psychedelics, used both ritually and recreationally. It is a psychoactive chemical in the tryptamine family which causes intense open- and closed-eye visuals and strong psychedelic mental effects when smoked or when taken orally with a MAOI such as harmaline. MAOIs block the enzyme that breaks down DMT in the body. In Australia, DMT is usually sold in the form of a white, yellow, pink, or orange crystal or powder, which can be vaporised or smoked through a glass pipe. The powder or crystal may be infused in dried plant matter (which may include a MAOI) to make a mixture commonly known as ‘changa’, which is generally smoked in a joint, pipe, or bong.

Psychedelic drugs may accelerate the onset of schizophrenia and other mental health issues if you are genetically predisposed. DMT is not strongly associated with exacerbation of mental illness, but it is important to be aware of this possibility.

Safer Using Tips :
Taking drugs is never without risk. Information on dose and length of action are of a general nature. Each person’s response to a drug will depend heavily upon individual factors such as body weight, kidney and liver function. Because most illicit drugs are of unknown purity and weight, use caution when dosing, start low and go slow
Strength can vary greatly so it is best to start with a small dose to test strength.
You only need a very small amount of DMT to feel the effects. A recreational dose is between 10 mg (light dose) and 50 mg (heavy dose) - one puff is a small dose; three puffs is a large dose.
When smoking changa through a bong, it is easy to overdo the dose, as you take the full hit all at once. Be careful – less is more.
You do not need a lot of this drug to achieve the desired effects; even with low doses, users report intense visuals.
Try to use in a safe environment with people that you trust.
Have a person that you trust, preferably an experienced user, present as a trip sitter. It is a good idea for this person to remain sober, and if you feel unsettled during the experience, let them know. Read about trip-sitting HERE
Your motor skills will deteriorate rapidly during the onset, so make sure you have a sober friend who can take the bong, pipe or joint from you when you’ve had enough; dealing with a broken glass pipe or spilled bong water while tripping is never a fun time.
Avoid taking DMT if you are feeling upset, emotional, anxious, or depressed. Psychedelics can intensify these feelings.
Stretching or meditating before the trip may help to prepare your mind and body for the experience.
Dose yourself, so that you have control of how much you are taking.
Sit or lie down for the experience. At times the hallucinations can be so strong that you cannot see the world in front of you and can only see the visions or hallucinations.
Take your time and be mindful of how you are feeling as the drug is taking effect, before you consider increasing your dose; more is not necessarily better.
Psychedelics affect all the senses, especially auditory and visual senses, leading to hallucinations. Psychedelics alter the way we think, our sense of time, and our emotions. Reactions and experiences can vary dramatically from person to person. Even if you’ve taken DMT many times before, every experience is unique and unpredictable. Read about trip-sitting HERE
DMT has a very distinct smell, so this may help if you aren’t sure what it is when someone passes you a cigarette.
Unsafe Combinations:
DMT combined with…
Other psychedelics = intensified psychedelic effects, longer peak and slower come down
MDMA = may intensify experience. Using ayahuasca or changa in combination with MDMA may lead to serotonin syndrome, primarily due to the presence of MAOIs in the mix
Ketamine = affects the intensity of the trip. Can lead to a challenging experience
Alcohol = may intensify the effects of DMT and diminish the quality of the experience
GHB = may intensify the effects of DMT
Benzos = may intensify the effects of DMT
MAOIs = can intensify experience when smoked and significantly increase the duration of trip
SSRIs = may decrease the effects of DMT

Roadside Drug test:
It is illegal to drive under the influence of any illicit drugs, including DMT. DMT is not detectable by a saliva test. It’s best not to drive until the effects have completely worn off and you have had a decent sleep. Make sure you take this into consideration when planning your ride home from a festival or event.
